Stonegate Pub Company, the managed operator, has taken the unusual step of sponsoring horse racing nights at Sandown Park under its Slug and Lettuce brand. The deal sees the brand take naming rights to the whole event as well as race card branding. It also has naming rights to the Diamond Edge Bar at the Racecourse on all three music nights held at Sandown Park - the event on Thursday 9 August will be renamed the Jessie J Music Night sponsored by Slug and Lettuce. Meanwhile, six Slug & Lettuce bars in the region are running competitions to win tickets to the race nights. Nicola Stuart, brand manager for Slug and Lettuce, said: “We’re hosting six charity race nights in our bars that are situated closest to Sandown Park, giving away 48 pairs of tickets in total. This is a one-off promotion but one that we, at Slug and Lettuce, are excited about. We like to offer our customers money can’t buy opportunities like our promotion earlier in the year to win a chance to train with the England rugby squad, and with this Jessie J event being a sell-out, it’s a big draw for our customers.”
