London bar group Simmons is preparing to open its fifth site and has number six in the pipeline, M&C has learnt.

The group is opening at 68 Amwell Street in Angel on 20 August on the former Filthy McNasties bar and is adding its sixth site in Shoreditch in the coming months subject to a licensing application.

The group is hoping to open at Leonard Street, Shoreditch while considering options to add a Simmons in Soho to its pipeline of openings.

The the privately-funded group, led by Nick Campbell, designs its venues with quirky interiors and retro video games available to play. Each site has five-hour “happy hour” deals with a range of regular drink deals and late night licensing to create a relaxed lounge-style environment.

Lucy Noakes, sales and marketing manager for Simmons, told M&C the group is planning to keep expanding at a steady rate and is looking for sites that have licenses that have an option to be extended until late.

Simmons opened its first venue in Kings Cross in 2009 and has since opened in Camden, Fitzrovia and earlier this year at Tower Hill. It also perates a pub called The Chelsea Pensioner in Chelsea.
