SA Brain, the Cardiff-based brewer and leisure operator, has appointed Jon Bridge, the former head of HR at House of Fraser, as its new group head of HR.

Bridge joins Brains, which last year announced a company restructure that saw the abolition of a separate sales and marketing division, after spending over four and a half years at House of Fraser.

His appointment follows that of Bruce Newman, formerly of Danone, as the pub group’s new group head of marketing.

The group’s sales and marketing functions are being incorporated into a new commercial division, which will include brewery operations and sales.

A retail division includes all Brains’ managed and tenanted pubs, plus restaurants, hotels and its coffee chain Coffee#1.

Finally, a reconfigured finance and business process division will manage all support processes across the company.

Earlier this year, the group announced that Philip Lay, retail director, would leave the business at the end of this month, after 12 years with the company.
