Ruth & Robinson, the Imbiba-backed Brooklyn-inspired bar project, has changed its name to Albion & East, MCA has learnt.

The group, which is to open in Hackney in November, has also taken on its first operations director – Darren Rumbelow, a former Business Development Manager at Davy’s Wine Bar.

The group agreed to change its name at a general meeting earlier this month.

The company, which is led by Sarah Weir, sold its original site - The Fourteenth Colonie in Clerkenwell – to BrewDog last year, and pulled out of acquiring the Black Cap in Camden in the spring.

The group will open its bar, pizza restaurant, gin distillery and members club, Martello Hall, at the former Warburton Arms, in Mare Street, Hackney in November.
