Rumba, the two-strong rum bar chain with sites in Macclesfield and Congleton, is on the acquisition trail.

The brand, which offers close to 200 rums from all over the world as well as an extensive cocktail menu, has three sites in the pipeline for the concept.

The original site in Congleton will be transferred to a new concept called Gin n Fizz while a larger site has been purchased in the town, which will open as a Rumba.

“It is four times bigger than the current Congleton site which is at capacity,” Chris Carsons, managing director of the Cheshire-based chain, told MCA.

The second site in Macclesfield opened in a Punch leased pub in July 2016.

The operator has also agreed a new site in Buxton, Leek, which is expected to open in November. A site in Wilmslow, Cheshire has also been lined up for the concept.

The Rumba brand has also undergone an update for the roll-out with the introduction of a food offer. The brand currently operates with a five nights a week wet-led focus.

Carsons said: “We are going to be taking the concept to seven nights a week offering pizzas with crazy toppings and buckets of fries.”

It is also finalising the launch of its own branded rum, which will be available in its bars and other outlets.

The group also operates the DV8 Bar brand and the Castle Inn in Congleton.
