William Robinson, joint managing director of north west-based brewer and pub operator, has said the company is now working on converting its third site to its fledgling managed division.

The Royal Ship, in Dolgellau, Gwynedd, in Wales, is currently undergoing the first phase of a refurbishment with nine of its 24 rooms due to be completed by the end of the week.

A further period of refurbishment to the pub will take place later this year before the site is relaunched.

The company has just finished the first stage of its conversion of the Bulls’ Head in the village of Hale Barns, near Altrincham in Great Manchester, which also focussed on accommodation. Robinson said there would be another period of closure to work on the rest of the pub.

Robinson said the company is also planning another conversion to the managed arm in the autumn.

He said the company had been buoyed by the success of its debut managed site, The Airport in Manchester, which opened in January.

Robinson said: “It has been a very encouraging start and we are now all focussed on the summer. There is huge potential in the beer garden so that will be the true test of how successful it is.
