Reymark Inns, a Sheffield-based pub operator, is acquiring the lease of its fourth pub in West Yorkshire while also refurbishing a pub in Barnsley to include accommodation, M&C Report has learnt.

The privately-funded company, led by Simon Markham, is taking on the lease of The Sun Inn in Halifax, West Yorks in a deal due to complete in July to operate it as a food-led pub.

The group has spent £20,000 refurbishing 12 letting rooms attached to the Red Lion in Worsbrough near Barnsley to create a country inn-style venue. It is part of a joint investment with Enterprise Inns.

Markham said the rooms attached to the pub have not been used for many years but Enterprise is supporting the renovation following refurbishments that Reymark has already undertaken at the pub.

Markham told M&C Report that Reymark will not be looking to acquire any more pubs in the next 12 months.

“We are looking to go into hotels but at the moment there’s nothing on the market that suits so we will keep looking,” he said.

The refurbished Red Lion Inn is due to reopen on 19 July.

Reymark Inns also operates The Junction in Barnsley and the Camerton Inn in Thorngumbald, East Yorkshire.
