Revolution Bars Group has lined up openings in Liverpool and Glasgow for its growing Revolución de Cuba brand, M&C understands.

The Mark McQuater-led group, which has identified 40 locations that would be suitable for the current eight-strong de Cuba brand, has lined the Blue Bar & Grill site at Albert Dock, Liverpool, for conversion to the concept later this year.

At the same time, it is believed to have moved closer to securing a unit in Renfield Street, Glasgow, a site which has been on its radar for over a year.

The listed company recently opened its eighth Revolución de Cuba in Nottingham after an investment of £1.7m.

The Market Street venue follows openings in Leeds and Milton Keynes.

Last year, McQuater said the company was seeing the strongest growth in its food sales, which now accounts for 14% of sales. He said this was largely because of the focus on growing the Revolucion de Cuba brand, which has a much higher food mix than the core brand.
