Redcomb Pubs, the company led by Dan Shotton and Mark Draper, has appointed a group executive chef as it continues its expansion with plans to exchange on a couple of new properties in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Shotton has told M&C Report that Redcomb is to revert to banks for a facility to fund its next two acquisitions, saying: “We don’t feel it’s the right time quite yet to be looking at VCs [venture capitalists] or EIS [the Enterprise Investment Scheme].” Earlier this year he said the six-strong firm was exploring a number of financing routes including a possible EIS.

Redcomb’s new executive chef is Chris Spencer, who has formerly worked with Luminar, Urban & Country and ran his own pub and restaurant for more than eight years

Shotton said: “I’m delighted to welcome Chris on board in what is a hugely exciting time for the company. Whilst the overall climate has been tough this year, our performance remains strong, and delivering consistently delicious food remains a key driver in maintaining growth and exceeding our budgets.

“We remain focused on growing our estate by three to five sites a year, and hope to be exchanging on a couple of new properties in the next few weeks.”
