Red Mist Leisure, the Surrey-based multiple pub operator, will open its fifth site and the first under a new pub & grill format in Farnham, this November, M&C Report understands.

The group, which is led by Mark Robson, will reopen the Wheatsheaf Pub & Grill this November after an extensive refurbishment program.

The new 100-cover fully refurbished Grade II-listed pub will feature “rustic authentic decor and furnishings”, and include an open kitchen.

Last May, the company opened the Exchequer in Crookham Village, Hampshire, on which it has an option to buy the freehold at a price already agreed by the time of its rent review in 2016.

“It’s a great option for us,” said managing director Mark Robson. “It allows us to test the pub out before we buy it, and it doesn’t tie up funding in the short term.”

Red Mist’s other sites, all freeholds in Surrey, are the Stag on the Rover in Eashing, the Queen’s Head in East Clandon and the Duke of Cambridge in Tilford. The pubs were all formerly Punch Taverns leaseholds.
