Three senior directors at Punch Taverns have been made redundant as the company attempts to reduce its overheads. Jonathan Paveley, the commercial director, Tracy Jones, strategy director and Nigel Turpin, Punch Taverns’ corporate affairs director, will leave the company in the coming months. So far, only the departure of Paveley has been officially announced but it is thought the three departures could save the company in the region of £500,000. Paveley is to step down from the pub operator’s board with immediate effect after five years with the company. While at Punch Taverns, Paveley engineered the Matthew Clarke joint venture with Constellation Brands. Before this he was a strategy director at Greene King. Giles Thorley, chief executive of Punch Taverns, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jonathan both personally and on behalf of the Board for his highly successful leadership of the broad Commercial agenda at Punch over the last five years. “Jonathan will be leaving the business in April with excellent commercial contracts in place with a strong sales & marketing ethos and with an exceptionally strong team."
