The closing date for entries in the Publican Awards is fast approaching. There are 11 main categories open for entry including Best Managed Pub Company, Best Tenanted/Leased Pub Company, Best Food Offer, Best Drinks Offer, Best Pub Employer, Best Accommodation Operator and Best New Pub/Bar.

Two new awards have also been added this year: Best Brewing Pub Company and Responsible Retailer of the Year. The closing date for entries is Friday, 31 October 2014.

Publican’s Morning Advertiser editor Rob Willock said: “These are the biggest, most rigorously judged and most prestigious awards in the pub sector – and the ones that leading operators, should most want to win. The awards celebrate their achievements in the past year, recognise and reward the efforts of teams and help boost the reputation of the business with customers, current and potential employees, and investors.”

The Publican Awards offer entrants a transparent and rigorous judging process that give them a chance to benchmark themselves against their competitors and gain invaluable feedback. Previous winners speak of the fantastic benefits of being selected as a finalist or winner.

Gillian McLaren, head of marketing at Young’s said: “’We were thrilled to win Best Managed Pub Company (51+ sites) and Best Food Offer (51+ sites) last year.  To receive industry recognition from a leading publication such as the PMA is a real boost to the company across the board – from pub staff to head office. For anyone serious about what they’re doing and confident that they’re doing it well, entering the Publican Awards is a no brainer.”

Peter Borg-Neal, chief executive of 2014 winner, Oakman Inns said: “It is a wonderful boost for the morale of the organisation when you win a Publican Award. Furthermore, it attracts a huge amount of positive PR. However, the best part for me is the education. The criteria set out for each award has been a huge part of the way we set objectives within the business. The judging process is rigorous and informative and has provided further direction towards lifting our game.”
