Peach Pubs has appointed its first property director, MCA understands.

Simon Bishop, previously of the Rank Group and former acquisitions manager at Scottish & Newcastle, joined the group late last month.

Co-founder Hamish Stoddart told MCA that it was the right time for the group to add in a dedicated property role.

He said: “Neither Lee (Cash, co-founder) or myself are property guys and at the stage we’re at, it’s important to have a real focus on that. It means that we can concentrate on the operational side and looking at the bigger picture.

“Simon has a wealth of experience and is going to give us the edge that we need as we look to grow.”

Stoddart told MCA earlier this year that the currently 17-strong group was targeting leasehold properties as well freehold for the first time.

He said: “The key for us is we want to carry on growing and remaining independent. We’re looking for any gastro pub or posh boozer, in our chosen area from Bristol to Surrey to Cambridge to Birmingham.”

Stoddart and Bishop will both be speaking at MCA’s Tenanted Pub Company Summit in Birmingham next Wednesday (9 November), where they will discuss the company’s ethos and its innovative approach to partnership.
