Parched Pubs, the south London multiple-pub operator, is in the preliminary stages of acquiring two pubs this year to bring its estate to six, M&C Report has learnt.

Isaac Tooby, one of the co-founders, told M&C Report he anticipates the group will take on the leasehold of one of the pubs by the end of the summer and the second in the autumn.

The two pubs, one of which is located in southeast and the other southwest London, will offer fresh seasonal British food with a few hints of modern European cooking.

Earlier this year Parched Pubs opened Edwins Brasserie, a 40-seater restaurant above its Trinity pub in Borough, which Tooby said has “exceeded all expectations”.

He said the group is considering another restaurant site as “certainly something we have talked about” but the focus will remain on growing the pub group as the core of its business.

“Ten years ago it was all about the booze but now we’re grown up and we’re all very interested in food too,” said Tooby who runs Parched Pubs with Shane Ranasinghe, Michael Robinson and Neil Watson.

As well as the Trinity pub in Borough High Street, the group also operates the Roebuck in Borough, the Montpelier in Peckham Rye and the Railway in Streatham.
