Ossett Brewing Company, the Yorkshire brewer and pub operator, has secured a Greene King leased pub opposite Leeds United’s Elland Road ground.

A £400,000 investment has been made at the Old Peacock, which re-opens on 2 August. Twenty five jobs have been created including a couple of roles as part of the new Government’s apprenticeship scheme.

Ossett Brewing Company’s joint managing director Jamie Lawson said: “We are confident that our refurbishment will make for an even better atmosphere during the games, while also creating a relaxed, welcoming environment for anyone wanting to enjoy the best beers or the tastiest grub you can get in a pub on non-match days. Cooked and prepared on the premises using local ingredients where possible, customers can dine either within the restaurant or outside in our fantastic beer garden, which we believe to be one of the largest in the city.”
Simon Longbottom, managing director of Greene King Pub Partners, said: “Ossett Brewery ticks all the boxes for us as first class pub operators; passionate about the business and highly driven to meet customer demand and expectations.

“The substantial investment at this iconic site has transformed The Old Peacock, giving the pub enormous potential to appeal to a much wider range of customers. It will satisfy demand from families, couples, groups of friends and of course football fans, whether they are looking for a quality meal or a pint of real ale, I am certain all will be wowed by what the pub has to offer.

“We are immensely proud of the brand new Old Peacock and look forward to a long and successful relationship with Ossett Brewery.”
