Novus Leisure, the late-night bar operator, has sold three central London bars to Summit Clubs, the nightclub group led by Jeremy Gordeno. It is thought the sale of the sites, which are smaller than a typical Novus business, is a tail-trimming exercise. It will reduce the group’s estate to 36 outlets. Steve Richards, chief executive, said: “As part of an ongoing review of our portfolio, we have reached agreement with Summit. “These are good locations but are on very short leasehold agreements and do not fit with our typical site requirements.” Summit was formed by Gordeno, formerly chief executive of Soho Clubs & Bars, in June 2005. It has acquired about 15 nightclubs in total since, including a five-strong package from Candu Entertainment. The three sites acquired from Novus are: The Boardwalk and The Soho, both in Wardour Street and Oxygen, in Leicester Square.
