New Moon Co is reported to have gone into administration, with two of its venues closed.

Earlier this week co-founder Paul Newman announced he had left the business, with David Mooney continuing to run the business.

MCA understands Mooney has set up a new company – Carrwood Catering - and will continue to operate the remaining New Moon venues with his wife, Jane.

The Liverpool Echo has reported that New Moon Co has gone into administration and quoted Jane Mooney as saying that the Mockingbird taproom and Casa Matta in Weaverham have both closed. As of this morning, New Moon’s website and Facebook page were all off line.

Jane Mooney told the Liverpool Echo: “It’s a shame for Chester and the Mockingbird but the company is going from strength to strength. We will share more news on how we are going forward as soon as we can.”

She said of staff who have lost their jobs: “A lot of them hopefully can be rehoused in other venues depending on travelling.

“We are always looking for good quality chefs and managers.

“Everybody has been paid up and nobody will lose holiday pay, that will all be taken care of.”
