Moonshine Bars has secured two further London sites for its Bavarian concept Munich Cricket Club, including a flagship location in Victoria and another in Canary Wharf.
Its debut Munich Cricket Club, a 350-cover venue, opened in Victoria in 2016, on a short-term lease. The new site, which opens tomorrow (4 July) occupies the former Pitcher and Piano at 25 Victoria Street, and will replace the existing premises at 1 Abbey Orchard St.
There will be nine Munich Biers on draught, authentic German fare and Oompah music Thursdays and Saturdays.
Led by father and son team, Tom and Robbie Gill, who also operate The Rose gastro-pub in Chelsea and The Loose Box Bar & Kitchen in Westminster – Moonshine Bars has also secured the former La Tasca site in Canary Wharf, for a further bierkeller.
The listed building, a former warehouse, overlooks the dock and fronts the main offices at Canary Wharf. The unit will feature a traditional Munich Bierhall and a large ski chalet inside and a Munich Biergarten outside.
Paul Tallentyre, executive director at Davis Coffer Lyons, which secured the sites, said, “Munich Cricket Club has become an immensely popular venue due to its extensive German beers and exuberant atmosphere and weekly Oompah Bands. Tom & Robbie are extremely talented operators, and these are two great opportunities for them to continue growing the business.”
