Former Spirit Pub Company chief executive Mike Tye has joined the board of The Restaurant Group.
The company announced that Tye will replace industry veteran and former Mitchells & Butlers executive Tony Hughes as chair of the remuneration committee on 4 April and will also act as a non-executive director.
Hughes, who is also senior independent director will retire from the board following the company’s AGM on 12 May 2016. Simon Cloke, currently a non-executive director, will be appointed senior independent director.
Tye stepped down from Spirit after it was acquired by Greene King last year. He was previously a director of Punch Taverns held a variety of managing director roles in Whitbread, including at David Lloyd Leisure, Premier Inn and Costa Coffee.
TRG said a process was underway to recruit one further non-executive director, to chair the audit committee.
