Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) is to launch a new website ‘Escape to the Pub’ to highlight the strength of the country pub sector and its relevant brands, including Premium Country Dining and Village Pub & Kitchen, M&C Report has learnt.

www.escapetothepub.co.uk  will launch this week and is designed to aid the discovery of great country pubs through nearby local attractions, walks and cycling routes.

Users will also be able to filter their search through some of the other key elements that make country pubs such special places to be, such as, beer gardens, open fires, cask ales and being dog friendly.  

The website will launch this week with a gin and tonic festival in partnership with The Great British Gin Collection and Waitrose amongst other features such as a resident blogger and visual Instagram campaign around #perfectpubmoments.

The company said that the website’s capabilities will continue to evolve with the implementation of an interactive events calendar over the summer and community page for users to rate and review each pub. 

A spokesman for Country Pubs said: “Country pubs aren’t the same as other sorts of restaurant business. They don’t just belong to us – people have strong ideas or ideals in their minds about how they should be- they belong to their local surroundings, local people, and to tradition as well. The discovery of a hidden gem can be a special thing and we wanted to make that discovery as easy and accessible as possible whilst growing our online community through relevant and pub related conversation.”
