Luminar, the nightclub operator, has continued its expansion with the acquisition of a 3,000-capacity club in Dundee.

The company has bought Fat Sams from Level 2 Entertainments Limited for an undisclosed sum.

Luminar chief executive Peter Marks said: “Fat Sams has been an iconic nightclub and live music venue in the city since 1983. It’s a great fit for our estate and complements, rather than competes with, our neighbouring Liquid & Envy venue.

“Fat Sams is well invested, well positioned and has a large capacity, making it a great addition to our Scottish estate.”

The outlet features an adjoining live venue featuring performances from major artists.

Last month Luminar announced its first acquisition - Evoke in Chelmsford - since the Marks-led consortium bought the group out of administration in 2011.
