Lovely Pubs, the venture headed by gastropub entrepreneur Paul Salisbury, is to add an 18-room hotel and retail space to one of its sites.

The Warwickshire-based company is to expand into accommodation at its Baraset Barn County Pub & Grill in Alveston, near Stratford-Upon-Avon. It will also open a shop and office space.

It comes as the company prepares to open its eighth site, the Moat House Inn in Alcester, on 17 November.

Salisbury told M&C Report it would take six to eight months to build the hotel

He said: “We have a lot of room so we want to make the most of it. The rooms will be chalet style in a two-storey block. ”

Salisbury said he would be interested in trying out accommodation at other sites but said getting planning permission was a huge hurdle on greenfield sites.

He said the Moat House Inn, a former Spirit pub, had been completely gutted and that there was “a lot excitement in the surrounding area” about its opening.

He said he would be installing a garden tepee, available for hire for parties, after its success in other venues.
