London’s Dandelyan was last night crowned as the World’s Best Bar, just days after it was announced that it is to close.
Renowned mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana, who runs the bar at the Mondrian London hotel on the South Bank revealed plans to replace Dandelyan with something “more fitting” last week.
Dandelyan swapped places with last year’s winner – the American Bar at The Savoy - at the Perrier-sponsored World’s 50 Best Bars awards, MCA’s sister title.
The strongest countries on the list this year were the UK and US, both with 10 bars each, most of which are situated in New York and London.
The awards are now in their tenth year and have grown over the years to now feature bars in 26 different major cities across the globe.
The top 10 comprised:
1. Dandelyan – London, UK
2. American Bar – London, UK
3. Manhattan – Singapore
4. The NoMad – New York, USA
5. Connaught Bar – London, UK
6. Bar Termini – London, UK
7. The Clumsies – Athens, Greece
