Lola Jeans, a north east bar operator, is expanding its Newcastle venue with a speakeasy-style cocktail bar at its Market Street site.

The Basement Speak pays tribute to the traditional speakeasy whilst pushing the boundaries of the city’s current bar offering.

Lola Jeans said the dedicated cocktail bar will “really explore the finer intricacies of a darker cocktail agenda” with a broad range of ingredients, flavours, methods, and delivery.

The bar is housed within the second Lola Jeans bar opened last year by Paul Sample doubling up from the first venue that opened in Tynemouth in 2011.

Sample is considering expanding the concept to other towns and cities in the north east and across the UK.
