JW Lees, the Manchester brewer and pub operator, has bought two pubs in Cheshire from Rochdale-based Deckers Restaurants for an undisclosed sum. The company has bought the Plough & Flail Pub and Restaurant in Mobberley and the Rope & Anchor, Dunham Massey. "The acquisitions increase the brewery’s profile in the North Cheshire area as they already own a large number of pubs in Cheshire," said the company. JW Lees was advised by Lawson Coppock & Hart and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Deckers Restaurants was advised by SNG Commercial Law and Baker Tilly. Last week JW Lees sold its wine and spirits distribution business Lakeland Vintners to House of Townend, the Yorkshire-based wine and Champagne merchant, as it looked to focus on its core brewing and pub operating business.
