Revitalised comedy-club group Jongleurs will this month open the first of four new sites due as part of a tie-up with nightclub operator Luminar. The tie-up, revealed last October, will see Jongleurs open in Luminar clubs in Leeds on the 11 February, Newcastle (18 February), Cardiff (25 March) and Luminar’s new club in Norwich on the 4 March. Simon Douglas, chief executive at Luminar, said: “It’s great to be working with the team at Jongleurs. Bringing in another strong brand such as Jongleurs alongside our Oceana, Liquid and Project brands is an obvious marriage – with footfall that will compliment the two offerings. “We see Jongleurs as having been responsible for the comedy we all enjoy today, with most household names having started out at a Jongleurs club at one time or another.” Jongleurs reverted to the ownership of its founders John Davy and Maria Kempinska in 2009 after the collapse of Regent Inns, which licensed the brand. It currently has seven comedy clubs and is close to securing a flagship site in London’s West End.
