JD Wetherspoon is to open two more lodges, offering a total of 49 bedrooms this monthwrites Paul Charity. The openings represent a £4.7m investment. A landmark hotel in Bewdley is to reopen as a pub and hotel on 5 May, following a £2.2m development project. The company has spent the past 11 months redeveloping the George Hotel in Load Street, which will offer 20 bedrooms. The historic hotel, a Grade-II-listed building, overlooking the River Severn and dating back to the 15th century, has been redeveloped in consultation with planning and conservation bodies. The pub will be open from 7am until midnight (Sunday to Thursday) and from 7am until 1am (Friday and Saturday). Breakfast will be served from 7am. Meanwhile, the landmark Royal Hop Pole Hotel in Tewkesbury is to reopen as a pub and hotel on 12 May, following a £2.5m redevelopment project.
