Harrison Ince Architects have been shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards 2013 for its work on two Wetherspoon pub projects.

The Manchester-based company has been shortlisted in the best restaurant/bar design category for The Smithy Fold pub in Glossop and The Master Mariner pub in New Brighton.

JDW invested almost £3 million developing the two pubs.

The Master Mariner has been built on the site of two former nightclubs. The pub is on two levels with a bar on each. It also features a balcony overlooking the sea.

The Smithy Fold opened on the site of a disused factory building dating back to the early 19th century. The pub features an open kitchen, exposed stone walls with large factory style windows together with a cantilevered terrace to the rear.

Harrison Ince partner, Kay Brannon, said: “We are delighted that two of our projects for Wetherspoon have been shortlisted for the design awards.”
