Managed pub operator JD Wetherspoon has delayed its plan to open its first outlet on the Channel Islands. The company plans to open on the site of a former Chicago Rock bar at the Waterfront development in Saint Helier, Jersey. Spokesman Eddie Gershon told M&C Report: “The licence hearing was due to be heard on Wednesday, but has been withdrawn by Wetherspoons’ solicitor. “The company aims to reapply at the next licence hearing and still keen to open a pub on the island.” JDW is thought to be nearing completion for the site, which is believed to be a private leasehold.
