Kornicis Group has acquired the former Lowlander Grand Café on Greechurch Lane in London and plans to covert it into a Jamie’s Bar. The company, which is the investment vehicle of Nick Tamblyn, the former chief executive of Chorion, acquired the site for a nil premium from the administrator MCR. Lowlander, the fledgling Belgian beer concept, which was founded by former Whitbread employees Aubrey Johnson and John Riddell, restructured via a pre-pack last October. The company, which is chaired by Jim Fallon, still trades at its original site in Covent Garden. The Kornicis Group purchased the majority of Jamie’s Bars after The Food & Drink Group collapsed into administration in 2008. It also bought Smollensky’s restaurants in Canary Wharf and on the Strand in London in 2008 and now operates in 20 sites, including three Henry J Bean venues. Shelley Sandzer handled the disposal of the Lowlander site.
