The Inception Group is to launch new concept, Casa Bonita, on the site of the former Cinnamon Soho in Kingly Street, MCA has learnt.
The group, which operates the Fogg’s and Bunga Bunga brands, will operate the bar format for six months from the end of June. Its long-term plans for the site will be announced later this year. Inception already operates 1940s-themed bar, Cahoots, in Kingly Court.
Casa Bonita is described as a relaxed and colourful bar that will trade seven days a week from 2pm – 1am, serving a limited selection of twists on classic cocktails, using Bacardi, Banks and Santa Teresa rums, Patron tequila and Leblon cachaça. It will also offer a selection of Latin bar snacks and regular, live Latin music.
Inception Group co-founder Charlie Gilkes said: “We are thrilled to have been given this amazing opportunity to take on this prime Carnaby, Soho bar premises. We’ll be trading it as a fun Latin inspired pop-up until the end of the year before revealing our exciting longer-term plans with the site.”
Since the end of 2017, landlord Shaftesbury had welcomed three new eateries; unconventional robatayaki Japanese restaurant INKO NITO at 55 Broadwick Street, sustainable British seafood concept Claw at 21 Kingly Street and Greek souvlaki eatery Pitta Bun which opens at 4 Newburgh Street in June.
Julia Wilkinson, group restaurant strategy executive, Shaftesbury, said: “Shaftesbury is delighted to add a brand-new bar concept to Kingly Court for summer 2018. Casa Bonita will be the first new bar to launch in Carnaby for some time and the mix of Latin cocktails and music promises to deliver a fun new pop-up destination for Carnaby while Inception work up an even more exciting permanent concept for the unit.”
