Hippo Inns has secured its 11th site – the Blue Anchor in Hammersmith, MCA understands.

Founder Rupert Clevely told MCA that a refurbishment of the first floor was now underway while the pub remained trading with investment in the ground floor set to take place in January.

Hippo – which was the first of Ei Group’s Managed Expert joint investments – expects to open another four pubs in the next nine months.

The Blue Anchor, on the Mall below Hammersmith Bridge, will be managed by James Martin, the son of CGA vice-president, Peter Martin.

Clevely told MCA: “It’s an absolutely cracking pub and we’re delighted it’s now part of the Hippo family. Getting to 10 sites earlier this year was a bit of a milestone, considering we’re only just over two years’ old. Now we’re raring to add more.

“The Blue Anchor is a great pub and a credit to Louis Amato, who has been the tenant for the past 10 years.”
