Heartstone Inns has taken its estate to 12 with the acquisition of a Monmouthshire pub.

The EIS-backed freehold operator has acquired the Anchor Inn at Tintern from a private owner for an undisclosed sum.

Heartstone describes the site, which is located next to Tintern Abbey and the river Wye as offering further development opportunities despite already being a successful business.

Managing director James Birch said: “We are delighted to have secured the purchase of the Anchor Inn which fits perfectly into our current estate and re-enforces our commitment to building a group of quality, freehold food led pubs in the South and South West that offer opportunity for development and growth”

Hearstone was founded in 2006 by Birch, chairman Andrew Haining and finance director Robin Black.
