The Castle pub, in Harrow, London, has become the first pub of the year to be awarded a certificate of excellence by the All-Party Parliamentary Beer group. The award is also part of the Beautiful Beer campaign, launched earlier this month to revitalise the image of beer to non-beer drinkers. The pub was nominated by local Labour MP Gareth Thomas, who said: "The Castle is the type of pub that everyone wishes was there local. It's got a great friendly atmosphere, serves tasty foods and has a good selection of beer." Landlord Tom Grant said: "We're delighted to receive this award. The whole team here works really hard to provide customers with the best of everything, beer, wine, food and service, and it's great to be recognised in this way."
