Hall & Woodhouse, the Dorset-based brewer and pub operator, has placed 11 pubs on the market for lease. The 11 properties, which are currently run as tenancies, are located at leading tourist destinations in Devon, Dorset, Hampshire and Sussex. The company, which operates just over 200 tenanted sites and 56 managed houses, plans to place the pubs on 15-year leases, with investment and development programmes planned for many of the sites. Andrew Younger, director of Hall & Woodhouse, said the company had always operated two or three leased pubs as part of its estate but felt that the 11 sites in question represented “an ideal opportunity to grow are leased portfolio”. He said: “The potential of these individual pubs has been carefully considered, and we have decided that a number of units are worthy of extensive investment. We are now looking to attract excellent operators to build strong businesses through these outlets. “This is not the start of a series of conversions but if we believe a pub has the potential to operate as a leased site we will carefully consider placing more on the market in the future.” Hall said he hoped that all of the 11 pubs would be converted by the end of year. Christie & Co is handling the marketing of the pubs.
