Greene King is expanding its new delivery and takeaway service to its pubs across the country.

Following a successful takeaway trial in its London-based Metropolitan Pub Company division, the pubco has said it plans to roll out its click-and-collect takeaway service to 40 pubs in the north-west, East Anglia and East Midlands from next Wednesday (10 June).

The takeaway offer will be available through the Greene King app or via phone, and all but two of the reopened pubs will also offer delivery through Deliveroo or Just Eat.

The pubs will operate on a specific takeaway menu, including pub classics like fish and chips and steak and ale pie, alongside a limited range of packaged beers, wine, soft drinks and the brand’s Ice Breaker Pale Ale.

As part of new safety measures, all the pubs will operate card payment and delivery and customer collection points will be separated.

A one way system controlled via distanced floor markers will also be used, and hand sanitiser will be available at the entrance to each site.

“We know the British public are missing the pub, so with pubs still closed for now the pub experience at home is the next best thing,” said Nick Mackenzie, Greene King CEO.

“Our click and collect takeaway and delivery services in London have been a huge success and customer feedback is that they love they can order for the whole household, with everyone choosing their favourite dish and not restricted to just one style of cuisine.”

“Health and safety remains the guiding principle for all our decision making around offering takeaway and delivery services so that our teams feel protected at work and customers feel safe when they visit.”
