Great Northern Inns, the Nottinghamshire-based pub company, headed by Dave Wilans, is to open its eight site this week in a former flower shop in Mapperley, Nottingham.

The site aptly named The Old Flower Shop is loosely based on a New York style bar offering craft beers, pizzas and burgers.

Wilans told MCA: “We have another site close by which is why we saw the opportunity for a more drinks-led venue.”

The bar will serve craft beers from its own Navigation Brewery. Wilans teamed up with Chris Cocking and award-winning brewer, Dom Flynn to build Navigation Brewery, which is situated behind its venue the Trent Navigation.

Great Northern Inns operates five sites under the Copper Cafes and Bar concept. It also has Nottingham city centre pubs the Cross Keys, Southbank and The Approach, which is about to undergo a £350K refurbishment and rebrand. The sites are a mix of both leasehold and freehold.
