G1 Group, the Scottish leisure operator led by Stefan King, has bolstered its operational team with the appointments of a new head of food operations, a group executive chef and a head of business development, M&C has learnt.

The c50-strong company has appointed Fraser McIIwraith, managing director of the Glasgow Bartenders Club as its new head of business development.

At the same time, Chris Gibson, former area chef in Scotland and the North for Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group becomes the company’s group executive chef.

Finally, Scott van der Hoek, former group executive chef at Eclectic Bars, has been named head of food operations.

Both Gibson and van der Hoek worked at the Living Room chain.

At the start of this year, G1 appointed Mike Horan, formerly of Ha Ha Bar & Grill and The Living Room, as its new operations director.

Earlier this summer, the company acquired two nightclubs both called Espionage following parent company Duddingston Leisure entering the administration process last year.

The clubs – in Edinburgh and Aberdeen – had been run by administrators KPMG.
