David Elliott, the former head of Greene King’s tenanted estate, has launched a new pub company, which has “substantial backing” to acquire freehold pubs across the UK. Elliott’s previous vehicle Quercus Pub Company was dissolved last month. The business was an offshoot of Quercus Capital, a Cardiff-based leisure property management business. He was tight-lipped on who was backing the new venture, Hinton Pub Company, but told M&C Report that he had “substantial backing” to look at opportunities in the current market and going forward. Elliott left Greene King in January 2010, after 11 years with the company.
