East Coast Concepts plans to appeal the revoking of its license at Neighbourhood venue in Spinngfields.

The bar was forced to close by local officials after a man was stabbed in the chest, back and leg by an alleged south Manchester gang member.

It was the second serious incident at the bar, following fears over a crowd crush and inadequate door staff, after a false rumour that Drake was in the venue.

Simon Kaye, who was managing director in February, said: “We have decided to appeal the decision and are looking forward to working closely with the authorities to find an alternative outcome that works for all parties.”

The concept, which closed last month, is described by founder James Hitchen as “vibrant dining”, with its gritty/glamorous fit-out attracting to celebrities and footballers in the city.
