Davy’s Wine Merchants is to open a new wine bar and restaurant in the City, at 21-23 1 St Swithin’s Lane.

Called the Tappit Hen, it will be the business’ 20th wine bar, and is due to open at the end of October. It also operates three individual bar and restaurant concepts as well as three shops.

The venue will feature a ground floor bar, with food served in the restaurant and two private dining rooms.

The pub has taken its name from the traditional 1.2 litre Port bottle, as the site is located in the former London home of the Sandeman Port house.

Speaking to MCA last summer, chairman John Davy said that Brexit had slowed the business’ expansion plans to reach site numbers in the mid-30s.
