Coyote Ugly Saloon has a further three UK sites already lined up to open in 2018, in addition to its recently announced Manchester venue.

The western-themed bar, inspired by the film of the same name, will open its third UK venue at Arch 2 on Whitworth Street West, Deansgate Locks – on the site of former Japanese-inspired nightspot Sakura.

Coyote Ugly UK’s communications director, Sean McMahon, told MCA that the Manchester site was likely to open at the end of March/beginning of April, with the next site locations revealed subsequently, one by one.

The franchise for Coyote Ugly in the UK is owned by Steve Lewis, who has an agreement in place for 12 sites – all of which are expected to open within the next five years.

McMahon said the success of its first venue in Cardiff, which opened in December 2016, “blew all expectations”, so the company decided to move ahead quickly with the roll-out.

He said the company was looking to open in most major cities in England, and was also looking at sites in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland at the moment.

Coyote Ugly Saloon opened a second UK site in Liverpool, in December 2017. It also has sites in US, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Kyrgyzstan and Germany.

McMahon added that around 80% of venue bookings were by women – “people want to be that person dancing on the bar”.
