Cloverleaf founders John Winder and Gary Douglas are to open the first site under their Touchwood joint venture with Joseph Holt in August, MCA understands.

The Bowling Green at Charnock Richard in Chorley, Lancashire, was acquired from Mitchells & Butlers, who had operated it as a Crown Carveries.

Winder and Douglas have already opened four venues with the Manchester-based brewer and pub operator under the Foresight Restaurants banner but this is the first of a pipeline of openings planned for Touchwood.

Winder told MCA the Bowling Green would open mid-August and would operate as a family pub restaurant.

He said: “This is the main project with Joseph Holt and it’s taken us a while to get the first one off the ground. We will be principally looking at greenfield sites but this one came along and looked a good fit. It’s a pub I’m familiar with from the past.

“We have got a pipeline but are still looking at other opportunities as well.”
