Cheshire Cat Pubs and Bars, the pub company founded by former Greenalls executives Tim Bird and Mary McLaughlin, is pausing to consolidate after opening five pubs in five years.

“We have no more expansion plans and need to take stock,” Bird told M&C Report. “It’s been quite hard going and we need to spend more time on what we’ve got, expanding within our existing pubs in terms of private dining, functions and letting accommodation.

“They are all outperforming our expectations but there is more we can do with them.”

There will be “an element of capital expenditure” involved, he added, including £15,000 on private dining facilities at the Three Greyhounds Inn at Allostock.

“And by the end of next year we’ll definitely looking at purchasing more pubs again.”
