Capital Pub Company, the London-based managed house chain, has acquired two more pubs, taking its estate to 29. The group, which is led by chief executive Clive Watson, has taken a 25-year lease on The Uplands in East Dulwich for a £50,000 premium from a private individual. It has the option to secure the freehold at a later date and intends to spend £250,000 on refurbishing the venue. Capital has also purchased a 40% stake in The Havelock Pub in Brooke Green, London, from one shareholder from a group of five. Watson told M&C Report he was confident the company could add a further three to four pubs to its estate in 2010.
