Paul Campbell, formerly chief executive of the Clapham House Group, has taken a significant minority stake in Vinoteca, the fledgling wine bar and restaurant chain, through his investment vehicle Hill Capital Partners.

Campbell has become a director of the two-strong business, which was launched in September 2005 by Charlie Young and Brett Woonton, and will advice on its expansion.

The chain currently operates two sites in London, in St John’s Street, Farringdon, and in Seymour Place, Marylebone.

M&C Report understands that the group is close to securing a third site for the concept in Soho.

In the short-term the chain will look at a measured expansion in the capital, before looking at opportunities further afield.

Campbell also holds stakes in steakhouse restaurant concept Hawksmoor and Tortilla, the Mexican fast-casual dining concept, in which Quilvest, the private equity backer of YO! Sushi, recently invested.
