Camerons, the North East brewer and pub operator, is offering customer the chance to receive their 1p a pint beer duty cut or donate it to a local charity.

On the back of the latest duty cut announced by George Osborne last week, Camerons said was passing on the saving onto to its tenants and trade partners but in its 14 managed houses was going a step further.

Customers will be given the choice to receive their 1p back or donate this to local charity the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group (HSNSG). In addition to this for every 1p donated Camerons will match this with a penny of their own.

Camerons pub estates & operations director Joe Smith Said “Following the cut in beer duty as announced by the Chancellor on Wednesday it is only right that this saving was passed on to our customers. It is difficult to change price points in our pubs for the reduction of 1p so we came up with the solution of offering customers the opportunity to take their 1p saving or donate it to the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group charity which Camerons supports. In addition we are matching every penny we receive from our customers with a penny of our own so we will raise some much needed funds to this fantastic local charity.”

The pubs will be running the 1p offer from Monday 23 March for four weeks.
