Burning Night Group, the Leeds-based bar operator, is working on a multimillion-pound destination bar concept with fashion designer Tiziano Mazzilli, MCA has learnt.
It is hoped the concept, which has a working title of PS Tiamo, will launch at Trinity Leeds next autumn at a c10,000sq ft site that will include a roof terrace.
The partnership with Mazzilli, the founder of Voyage fashion boutique, will be the group’s most premium brand yet, and is set to include high concept design elements.
It is expected to launch under Potting Shed Trading – a joint venture with the management of Burning Night and Downing LLP, which is behind the Potting Shed and Firepit concepts.
PS Tiamo shares some elements with Potting Shed, such as the outside areas and garden themes, with the ‘PS’ a nod to its origins – though the new concept is intended to be more high-end and metropolitan than its rural predecessor.
The group originally secured planning permission to launch a Potting Shed at Leeds Trinity so must now secure permission for the remodelled design.
They are also looking to bring the concept to Harrogate, at the Grade II-listed Royal Baths building on Montpellier Road, subject to planning approval.
Allan Harper, chief executive of Burning Night, told MCA: “Tiziano Mazzilli is a fashion designer with a big love of music, so it’s a great fusion for us as bar operators.
“We will see how the collaboration goes, it has potential go in one or two sites.
“We will give him lead design, but our people will model it into a commercially sound investment. He will create something mental, we will have to tone it down and make it work, so we have the best of both worlds.
“I think it will turn into something special. It’s just a matter of getting the clearance to put it in that site.”
