The Crouch Vale brewery in Essex has put its only pub, the Cap and feathers, Tillingham, up for sale.

The sale has been agreed because the current tenant is leaving and brewery chief Colin Bocking says he would find it "very difficult" to find someone else to run it the way he wants it run.

The money from the sale, likely to be in excess of £400,000, will be used to build Crouch Vale a new home when the lease on its current site in South Woodham Ferrers runs out in 2006,
