BrewDog, the fast-growing Scottish brewer and pub operator, has had an offer accepted on a site in Liverpool for its next branded bar, while offers have been made on locations in Cardiff and Brixton in London.

The company, which also announced plans to build a pilot brewery at its current offices, said it’s “working hard to identify potential sites in Brighton and Dundee”.

Meanwhile, BrewDog said it has secured the site of a former mechanics garage in Sau Paulo in conjunction with local partners for its first South American BrewDog bar, which is to open by the end of 2013.

Writing on its blog, the firm said it has secured a site in Brussels that it expects to open in early 2014. It will be operated by Bob Rothstein, who has invested in BrewDog through its Equity for Punks scheme.

“In addition to these we are close to identifying sites in New Delhi, Tokyo and Rome and will hopefully have some amazing announcements regarding these in the next few months.”

BrewDog said it has installed external areas to its UK bars in Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester, as well as new booth seating in Edinburgh. “We are also working on installing sound absortion panels to improve the acoustics in all of our bars,” it said.

In addition, the company said its new 4,000 sq metres warehouse is “half built” and should be open in late October.

“This new building will give us the space to add lots more tanks in our existing building and give us the space to continue to increase our brewing production.

“Over the next six months we are also adding eight new 600HL fermentation tanks, three new bright beer tanks and a fourth vessel to our brew-house. All of these additions will not only increase capacity but also efficiency and decrease our energy usage per HL brewed.”

In February BrewDog expects to start the project to turn its existing office space into a pilot brewery, tap room, visitor centre and shop.

“This new facility will be focussed completely on promoting education and better understanding of craft beer,” BrewDog said. “Our pilot plant here will be used for new recipe development and also interactive and open brewing sessions. We plan on having monthly open days where people can come and help us make some awesome beers and learn all about brewing in the process

“The brewery expansion project is a £4m+ project overall and will see us add 30 new people to the team based in Ellon over the next 12 months.” BrewDog said it has started work on its next two UK bar openings in Sheffield and Shepherd’s Bush, west London.
